Principal's Message...

February 27, 2026

Greetings, Timmons Families!

As we end the week, we also close out the month. Today marked the end of our American Heart Challenge and we could not be any more proud of our students and our school community! Thank you to all who made donations and who completed Finn's mission. We hope that by learning hands-only CPR, this skill can become a lifesaver in an emergency.

Our second graders completed their Iowa and CogAT testing this week as well. Once our makeups have been completed, we will prepare the result reports to send to families.

The third graders have been busy preparing for their showcase that will take place on March 12th.  An invitation was emailed to third-grade families earlier this week. We can't wait to hear the research on biographical figures in a wax museum format.

Finally, next week is an exciting week at Timmons. Right to Read Week has been a tradition at Timmons, and this year, we are excited to host an author visit for our students. Lindsey Ward has authored and illustrated over forty books for children. Her books will set the stage for the week as our students and teachers engage in writing, art, and creative thinking through activities arranged by our talented PTO. We thank all of our volunteers who assisted in the planning and development of this week. So make sure you ask your child about the visit and the fun experiences they engage in each day.

With Gratitude,
Dave Rogaliner
Principal

Kindergarten Students Making Real World Connections

Our Kindergarten students recently participated in an engaging lesson about plants and farm animals.  It was a natural connection to a knowledge unit the students have been learning about in their CKLA reading instruction.

We were fortunate to welcome Katie Nainiger from the Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District, who visited each class over several days. Mrs. Nainiger read “Planting a Seed” and guided students through activities that reinforced their learning. The students discovered the importance of planting and farming, as well as the many foods and products we get from plants and farm animals.  It was part of the Planting Unit culminating activity.

The extensions to the learning are a valuable part of the student experience. The partnerships with our local resources have been very meaningful, as they provide real-world connections to the topics our students listen to and read about.

We are grateful to the Geauga Soil and Water Conservation District for sharing their time and resources with our school.
