Principal's Message...

February 13, 2026

Greetings, Timmons Families!

Timmons is always a busy place, and the month of February is no exception.  Our second graders finished their CogAT testing last week and will take the Iowa testing at the end of this month.  Our students participated in our Kids Heart Challenge assembly last Friday, and the American Heart Association Drive is well underway.  We hope your family participates and joins many others to learn the valuable skill of CPR.  Yesterday, our students created kind messages for patients in the cardiac units at University Hospitals as part of their service-learning project.  Those messages were delivered today.  The students at Timmons truly understand the meaning of our PEAK trait of Compassion!

As we have all witnessed, the weather has been challenging this winter.  However, the forecast shows some improvement next week.  I want to remind everyone that if we can get students outside for their recess, we will.  Please make sure your child has gloves, hats, and appropriate winter gear so they can stay comfortable outside.  The fresh air does everyone good.

With Gratitude,
Dave Rogaliner
Principal

Valentines Lands at Timmons

Our students were treated to class parties on Thursday, February 12, where students were able to exchange valentines with one another.  Our PTO organized games and a story, and also helped facilitate the service-learning project.  We thank all of our parent helpers who were on hand, as well as those who donated items for the parties.  It is much appreciated.

The service-learning project guided our students in creating notes of encouragement for cardiac patients in intensive cardiac units at the University Hospitals. This act of kindness connected well with our PEAK trait of compassion. It also connects to our current fundraiser drive to support the American Heart Association through Finn's Mission. Students completing Finn's Mission will learn how to conduct hands-only CPR.  This knowledge can be life-saving in the event of an emergency.  Finally, in physical education classes, our students are learning different ways to engage in aerobic activities to strengthen their hearts.  This month truly is all about heart and compassion!

Important Clinic News: Flu Season Reminder

Flu season is upon us! If your child is showing signs of illness—such as fever, cough, or fatigue—please keep them home from school. Additionally, contact the building office at the start of the school day to report your child’s absence.

To help prevent the spread of germs, it’s important to model healthy habits at home:
  - Cover your cough or sneeze with your elbow.
  - Wash your hands frequently with soap and clean water for at least 20 seconds. (A fun tip: singing the alphabet while washing is a great guide!)

By working together, we can keep our students and staff healthy and safe this season.

Reminder of Winter Weather Preparedness

As a reminder, please be sure children come to school dressed for winter weather by wearing warm coats, hats, gloves, and scarves. Dressing in layers when possible helps students stay comfortable as temperatures change throughout the day. Students should also wear appropriate footwear designed for cold, snowy, or icy conditions to ensure safety during outdoor activities. When weather conditions are favorable, students will go outside for recess, so being properly dressed is important.

Save the Date - Kindergarten Parent Meeting

Parents of children entering Kindergarten this August are invited to attend the Kindergarten Information Night on Monday, March 2, 2026, at 7 pm, held in person at Timmons Elementary School.

During the evening, families will learn more about the Kindergarten program, what makes Timmons special,  and how to begin the registration process. In accordance with new Ohio law, children must be five (5) years old on or before the first day of school to be eligible for Kindergarten.  We look forward to welcoming our newest Bombers to the Kenston Bomber family.
