Principal's Message...

December 19, 2025

Greetings, Timmons Families!

As we conclude the second nine weeks, it is amazing to me how quickly time is going by and what we have been able to accomplish already!  Reflecting on the past month, our students did an amazing job collecting food donations for the Friends for Bainbridge Food Pantry.  This donation drive collected over 1,443 items!

As we look forward, there are many events and activities that are still on the calendar.  Upcoming music programs for grade 2 and grade 1 will certainly entertain our families.  Our second and third grade students will learn to cross country ski in physical education classes.  A special week to celebrate reading will take place the first week in March.

Additionally, planning for next school year is underway.  As part of that planning, reaching out and welcoming our newest class, the class of 2039, will kick off with a parent meeting on Monday, March 2, 2026.  This date is a bit later than usual, but please save the date!

In closing, I would like to wish each of you a safe and happy holiday!  May the next couple of weeks be filled with memories, fun, and joy.  We will see our students back on Tuesday, January 6, 2026!

With Gratitude,
Dave Rogaliner

Holiday Party Highlights . . .

Winter Parties were hosted by our amazing PTO and the students had a blast playing games, creating crafts, and enjoying a good story.  We thank all of our volunteers who helped to organize and also to be on hand to assist.  Here are a few pictures to capture the fun that was had by all.

Guidance Lessons

Our social and emotional curriculum is presented to our students through the small daily interactions that our teachers have with each student to a larger setting where our counselors present monthly lessons.  Mrs. Tutkovics and Mrs. Mahoney presented lessons on empathy in the library this month for first through third-grade students.  Empathy is an action we can use to demonstrate this month's PEAK Trait of Love. Students learned to define empathy with the help of Murray from Sesame Street through this short clip and considered questions to help encourage empathy:

1. How is the other person feeling?

2. What do they need?

3. How can I help?

Students completed an empathy-matching game (1st) or discussed scenarios to show empathy for others (2nd and 3rd) and why this is important.

Kindergarten Kimochi Lessons continued as well and stayed on the topic of love and empathy.  The lesson this month focused on using friendly and helpful words, especially when our friends make a mistake and hurt our feelings. We can let them know by putting a hand on our heart and saying, “Ouch, that hurt my feelings." This action helps others understand how we are feeling, which provides an opportunity to correct our mistakes.

Important Transportation Update

As we welcome new students in the New Year, we encourage all families to check Infinite Campus (IC) for any updated bus times. Bus routes and pick-up/drop-off times may have changed, and reviewing this information will help ensure a smooth start to each school day.

Thank you for taking a moment to verify your child’s transportation details. If you have questions or need assistance, please contact the building office.

Wishing everyone a safe and smooth start to the New Year!

Kenston High School and Timmons Elementary School Collaborate to Promote Handwashing

Recently, students from Kenston High School joined our kindergarten and first-grade classes to present an engaging handwashing lesson. A new student group, HOSA - Future Health Professionals, led by Kenston Senior Shriya Selvan, teamed up with Timmons Elementary School nurse, Mrs. Tiffany Craig, to teach the importance of handwashing and encourage this healthy habit to help prevent illnesses.

High school students modeled the proper handwashing technique and then asked our younger students questions about the benefits of keeping their hands clean. This collaborative effort not only reinforced good hygiene habits but also created a fun and interactive learning experience.

Important Clinic News: Flu Season Reminder

Flu season is upon us! If your child is showing signs of illness—such as fever, cough, or fatigue—please keep them home from school. Additionally, contact the building office at the start of the school day to report your child’s absence.

To help prevent the spread of germs, it’s important to model healthy habits at home:
  - Cover your cough or sneeze with your elbow.
  - Wash your hands frequently with soap and clean water for at least 20 seconds. (A fun tip: singing the alphabet while washing is a great guide!)

By working together, we can keep our students and staff healthy and safe this season.

A Note From Kenston Nutrition Services

The Kenston Nutrition Services Department will be adding new menu items after the start of the new year. Students can look forward to additional options and expanded choices designed to support healthy eating and keep meals exciting throughout the school day.

Visit the Kenston Nutrition Services page for menus, payment methods, and more.

Kenston Stadium and Tennis Courts Closed for the Season

As winter approaches with cold temperatures and wintry weather, please note that the Kenston Stadium (including the track) and Tennis Courts are closed for the season. The hazards of winter weather (including slippery surfaces, strong winds, and cold temperatures) require the facilities to be closed, which will extend their life. The stadium and tennis courts will reopen in the Spring of 2026.

The 1.5-mile Kenston trail is available year-round; however, it is open only during non-school hours and when not in use by a team. This trail provides many opportunities to enjoy nature and exercise, but only during non-school hours. Please also note that dogs are not permitted on the trail or on campus unless they are service dogs.
