"Gratitude is the memory of the heart" ~ Lillian, Class of 2030 |
November 14, 2025
Dear KMS Families, This week, we were reminded of what makes our school community so special. Our heartfelt Veterans Day Assembly, where students demonstrated genuine respect and gratitude to more than 60 visiting veterans, was a fantastic all-building event.
As we look ahead to our upcoming Book Drive, we’re excited to see our students’ generosity in action once again. With our PEAK trait of the month focused on gratitude, we are truly thankful for our KMS families, students, and the ongoing support that helps our community learn and grow together.
Sincerely, Adam Fender Principal |
At Kenston Middle School, over 60 veterans, including a World War II veteran, attended a moving all-school assembly. Local Boy Scouts presented the colors, Dr. Bates, a KMS teacher, led the singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and the KMS Ensemble delivered a heartfelt rendition of “America the Beautiful.” The program featured a keynote speech by David Pixley, a proud veteran and Kenston parent, who shared reflections on his time in the service and the significance of patriotism.

UpSTANDers RISE to Bomber Beliefs at KMS What is an UpSTANDer? - An “upstander” is a person
who acts to make positive change. At Kenston Middle School, we are looking for students to support our R.I.S.E. Behavior Program by creating a positive school climate and inclusive culture where all students can succeed.
The PBIS Committee, with the help of teachers and staff, would like to recognize students who go above and beyond in their actions to create positive change and a positive climate. Students will be given UpSTANDer cards by staff when they see students exemplifying one or more of the following characteristics in the middle school: Respect, Positive Attitude, Inclusive, Leadership, Engaged, Responsibility, and Safety.
We want to acknowledge our students for their hard work and hope they feel a sense of pride and connection to their school. Students should take their cards home to show their family. Also, students can enter a weekly drawing to receive an UpSTANDer reward by scanning the QR Code on the front of their card. Congratulations to our recent UpSTANDers for the weeks of 11/3 and 11/10 |

Kenston Stadium and Tennis Courts Closed for the Season |
|
|
|
As winter approaches with cold temperatures and wintry weather, please note that the Kenston Stadium (including the track) and Tennis Courts are closed for the season. The hazards of winter weather (including slippery surfaces, strong winds, and cold temperatures) require the facilities to be closed, which will extend their life. The stadium and tennis courts will reopen in the Spring of 2026.
The 1.5-mile Kenston trail is available year-round; however, it is open only during non-school hours and when not in use by a team. This trail provides many opportunities to enjoy nature and exercise, but only during non-school hours. Please also note that dogs are not permitted on the trail or on campus unless they are service dogs. |
