Peak Trait - Positive Attitude

"Positive attitude means not to worry and try your best." Avery Risker, Class of 2033

March 13, 2026

Dear KMS Families,

As we head into the week before spring break, we’re excited to keep learning exciting and meaningful in our classrooms!

The District continues to learn about and celebrate America 250, the 250th anniversary of our country's founding, and students will participate in meaningful learning experiences throughout the rest of the school year. Historical facts that shaped our nation will be announced with our morning announcements. Each grade level has designed special lessons or projects to be completed over the last quarter of school. We are excited to celebrate this milestone together. We invite everyone to wear red, white, and blue on Wednesday, March 18, as we begin learning more about and celebrating America 250.

Thank you for helping your students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Have a fantastic and well-deserved spring break with your friends and family.

Sincerely,

Adam Fender
Principal

Say Something Week at KMS

During "Say Something Week," Kenston Middle School welcomed Dr. James Knight to present to students and staff. Dr. Knight shared an inspiring message encouraging students to strive for excellence, lead with strong character, and make a positive impact both in and out of the classroom. He shared real-world experiences, sparked meaningful conversations, and inspired students to set goals and believe in their potential. His message, as part of Say Something Week, reminds students that true leadership starts with empathy, respect, and the courage to do what is right.

KMS UpSTANDers

UpSTANDers RISE to Bomber Beliefs at KMS
What is an UpSTANDer? - An “upstander” is a person
who acts to make positive change.

At Kenston Middle School, we are looking for students to support our R.I.S.E. Behavior Program by creating a positive school climate and inclusive culture where all students can succeed.

The PBIS Committee, with the help of teachers and staff, would like to recognize students who go above and beyond in their actions to create positive change and a positive climate. Students will be given UpSTANDer cards by staff when they see students exemplifying one or more of the following characteristics in the middle school: Respect, Positive Attitude, Inclusive, Leadership, Engaged, Responsibility, and Safety.

We want to acknowledge our students for their hard work and hope they feel a sense of pride and connection to their school. Students should take their cards home to show their family. Also, students can enter a weekly drawing to receive an UpSTANDer reward by scanning the QR Code on the front of their card.

Congratulations to our recent UpSTANDers!

At Kenston, we strive to provide ways for our students to learn, grow, and thrive, and we know that building healthy lifestyle habits plays a vital role in that.

Eat the Rainbow Week: 3/16 to 3/20

During the week of March 16 - 20, Kenston Local Schools will celebrate Eat the Rainbow Week, which encourages students to eat fruits and vegetables in a variety of colors each day. Colorful foods are not just fun to eat; they also provide a wide range of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals as part of a daily diet. Students are encouraged to wear the color for each day of the week.

Health and Physical Education Calendar

Fitness and movement are important for maintaining students' overall health and wellness. Kenston Local Schools encourages families to visit the Shape America monthly calendars for simple ideas to help students stay active and healthy.
