"You can show compassion when you stand up for others." Emmett Yorkiel, Class of 2036 |
February 27, 2026
Dear KMS Families,
The past few weeks have been a wonderful reflection of the strong partnership between our students, staff, and families. Across our classrooms, we continue to see high levels of engagement, thoughtful learning, and a shared commitment to doing our best each day. I am grateful for the support you provide at home, which plays an essential role in this success. As we look ahead, we are excited to build on this positive momentum and continue the strong work that helps every student grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Thank you for being such an important part of our school community.
Sincerely, Adam Fender Principal |

Science in Action: 6th Grade Scientists at Work |
|
|
|
Mrs. Sedmak's 6th-grade science students had a fun, hands-on lab exploring osmosis. Students measured an egg’s permeability to see how easily substances pass through its membrane by tracking changes in the egg’s circumference and the volume of liquids after soaking in vinegar, colored water, and corn syrup. This lab reinforced key concepts from the life science unit on cells, giving students a practical way to see science in action. |

UpSTANDers RISE to Bomber Beliefs at KMS What is an UpSTANDer? - An “upstander” is a person
who acts to make positive change. At Kenston Middle School, we are looking for students to support our R.I.S.E. Behavior Program by creating a positive school climate and inclusive culture where all students can succeed.
The PBIS Committee, with the help of teachers and staff, would like to recognize students who go above and beyond in their actions to create positive change and a positive climate. Students will be given UpSTANDer cards by staff when they see students exemplifying one or more of the following characteristics in the middle school: Respect, Positive Attitude, Inclusive, Leadership, Engaged, Responsibility, and Safety.
We want to acknowledge our students for their hard work and hope they feel a sense of pride and connection to their school. Students should take their cards home to show their family. Also, students can enter a weekly drawing to receive an UpSTANDer reward by scanning the QR Code on the front of their card. Congratulations to our recent UpSTANDers! |
