Kenston Local Schools proudly came together today, Veterans Day, to honor and celebrate the brave men and women who have served our country. Veterans Day holds deep meaning for our district, and we are grateful for the opportunity to show our appreciation through meaningful student-led activities and heartfelt ceremonies.
Below you will find more information from events held on campus, as each building honored those who have defended our freedom and exemplify the spirit of gratitude that defines the Kenston community.

At Timmons Elementary School, veterans were welcomed with a patriotic music program led by our talented third graders. During this program, each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces was represented. Following the performance, veterans joined the students to share stories of their service and answer questions. Another beloved tradition, the Veteran Stars display, continued this year, with families purchasing stars in honor of loved ones who have served. Funds raised from the stars will be donated to support a Geauga County veteran in need.

At Kenston Middle School, over 60 veterans, including a World War II veteran, attended a moving all-school assembly. Local Boy Scouts presented the colors, Dr. Bates, a KMS teacher, led the singing of “The Star-Spangled Banner,” and the KMS Ensemble delivered a heartfelt rendition of “America the Beautiful.” The program featured a keynote speech by David Pixley, a proud veteran and Kenston parent, who shared reflections on his time in the service and the significance of patriotism. |

At Kenston High School, students in the Mass Media and Journalism class continued their annual tradition of connecting with local veterans to learn about their service and sacrifices. The students created a powerful video presentation that was shown in every classroom to mark the start of Veterans Day. After the viewing, students and teachers participated in reflection activities, discussing their connections to veterans and the importance of this national day of remembrance. The video will also be shared on Kenston’s social media channels so that our wider community can join in honoring our veterans. |

Additionally, the Kenston Alumni Association, in partnership with Kenston Local Schools, continues to recognize the courage and dedication of U.S. service members through the Military Wall of Honor. Community members are encouraged to submit information and photos to help us honor more of our Kenston graduates and employees who have served or are currently serving.
