Dear KHS families,
As our nation approaches the 250th anniversary of the United States, Kenston High School is proud to recognize America 250 as an opportunity for students to reflect on the people, events, and ideas that have shaped our country. This milestone provides a meaningful moment for our school community to connect classroom learning with the broader story of American history.
To celebrate this historic occasion, our 8th-grade American History classes created a
250-year America timeline that highlights key moments across the past two and a half centuries. The timeline depicts significant events in American history from the founding of our nation to modern-day milestones, allowing students to visualize how our country has grown, faced challenges, and continued to evolve. All eight sections of 8th-grade American History covered a 30-year period, highlighting significant and impactful American events in the areas of presidents, states, social trends, cultural advancements, and technological innovations. We would also like to thank our Digital Design course for their collaboration and innovative work on the historical timeline.
|
|
|
Through this project, students will explore important historical connections and see how individual events contribute to the larger American story. We look forward to showcasing this timeline as students enter the KHS Social Studies wing in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. We hope that this will encourage thoughtful reflection on the history that continues to shape our future. Sincerely, |
|

Less than one month away, Kenston Center Stage is gearing up for their annual
Spring Musical on Friday, April 10, at 7 pm and Saturday, April 11, at 2 pm and 7 pm. Stay tuned for ticket information.
Chicago Teen Edition transports us to the roaring twenties, where Roxie Hart, a chorus girl with big ambitions, murders her unfaithful lover and convinces her devoted husband, Amos, to take the blame—until he realizes the truth. Sent to death row, Roxie encounters fellow “Merry Murderess” Velma Kelly, and the two fierce rivals battle for fame, headlines, and ultimately, freedom. A dazzling showcase of musical theater, Chicago has captivated audiences for decades, earning 10 Tony Award nominations for its 1975 premiere and 6 wins for its 1997 revival. With Bob Fosse’s iconic choreography and John Kander and Fred Ebb’s unforgettable score—including showstoppers like “All That Jazz,” “Cell Block Tango,” and “Roxie”—this electrifying production is an experience you won’t want to miss.

The team is a member of the Portage Quiz Bowl League, which comprises 12 schools, including Aurora, Streetsboro, Ravenna, Waterloo, Rootstown, and Hudson. The students (above) who were selected to appear on television in the Nordson Academic Challenge have been competing regularly for years.

Washington D.C. Trip - 8th Grade |
|
|
Attention 8th-grade parents/guardians:
The 8th-grade Washington, D.C. parent meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 22nd, at 6:30 pm in the KHS auditorium. During this meeting, the finalized itinerary and trip information will be reviewed, and Brian Nowak from our tour company, Nowak Tours, will be available to answer any additional questions you may have. The slideshow covering the information to be covered during the meeting will also be sent home so that all parents have access to it, regardless of whether they are able to attend.
The 3rd and final payment for DC was due on MARCH 6th. If you chose to break the $660.00 cost into 3 payments, your final payment of $220 can be paid either online through the "school store" on Infinite Campus, or by check (made payable to KBOE with your student's full name on the memo line), or cash. Please bring all cash/check payments to the KHS front office in a clearly labeled envelope with your student's name and "Mrs. Sedmak/Mr. Fromwiller, Washington, DC". If you have already paid in full, thank you! You can check your online payments on the "my account" page in the Infinite Campus parent portal. You will need to change the date range to include "all payments".
Please remember that the general medical form must be completed for every student attending the trip!
Destination Washington Medical.doc
If your child will need medication (prescription OR non-prescription), you must have the appropriate form on file. If you have a current medication form already on file with the KHS school nurse, you do NOT need to submit another copy for the trip. Copies of all of the medication forms can be found on the Kenston Website: Kenston District Forms
The students submitted their roommate requests on March 12th. The hotel rooms accommodate 4 students. Please have conversations with your students before March 12th about their roommate choices, and have them reach out to me with any concerns they may have about rooming. On March 12th, students will also submit their t-shirt size for our custom DC t-shirts and their sub sandwich order for lunch on the bus ride home. If your child has any food allergies, please make sure that we are aware of this on the Destination Washington Medical Form (linked above).

Is Your Senior a Kenston Legacy Graduate?
If you’re a Kenston alum with a graduating senior, we want to celebrate your family’s Bomber tradition at Commencement!
The Kenston Alumni Association honors Legacy graduates—students whose parents walked the same halls and wore the same colors. It’s a special moment that connects generations of Bombers, and we don’t want your family to miss it.
Complete the Legacy Graduate Form by Friday, March 20, 2026, to ensure your senior is recognized during the ceremony.
This honors the enduring spirit of Auburn, Bainbridge, and Kenston Schools - and the families who’ve kept that spirit alive. We appreciate your help with acknowledging and celebrating this Kenston tradition. Bombers Fly Together!
